Chol Hamoed Pesach 5783
He gripped the handlebars of the roller coaster and screamed for joy. The shiny blues, reds, and yellows of the rides swam before his eyes. The whimsical merry-go-round music mingled with the delighted shouts of his fellow riders.

For one whole day, he was not The Yasom.

The Yasom who lives with a burning void.
The Yasom who's subject to pitying whispers and stares.
The Yasom who's the odd one out wherever he goes.

On Monday, the second day of Chol Hamoed, Project Yedid took 1,300 yesomim to Six Flags Great Adventures and Wild Safari in Jackson, NJ.

For one whole day, The Yasom was just a regular kid.
He smiled. He felt embraced by an extended family who understands him.
He reveled in a fun-filled adventure and forgot his pain for a few blissful hours.
It was a beautiful, sunny day, but the yesomim felt warmed on the inside as well.
