Misaskim Volunteers Called In to Assist in Englewood, N.J.
Date: December 25, 2010

Misaskim's 24-hotline began ringing shortly after Shabbos was over. This call came from Englewood, N.J., requesting Misaskim's assistance in the aftermath of the tragic death of Dr. Paul Kudowitz, A"H, 57, who was struck and killed on his way to shul on Friday night. Three volunteers from Misaskim's Disaster and Recovery Unit were dispatched to the scene of the accident and immediately began the process of providing much-needed assistance.

Misaskim contacted Rabbi Abe Friedman, Chaplain of the New Jersey State Police, who was instrumental in communicating the family's needs to the Bergen County Chief's Office. In addition, Rabbi Moses Vitriol took charge of all arrangements with the Bergen County Medical Examiner's Office. Misaskim is grateful for the assistance of the Englewood Police Department which, despite the frigid weather, stood side by side with Misaskim during this lengthy and cumbersome process. The help of the Englewood Police Department is even more appreciated, because this tragic accident meant that family Holiday celebrations were disrupted for the officers involved.
